An ordinary life can be extraordinary. Fifteen years ago, Marcy McCall began recording two families she knew in their everyday routines of school and home. With an unrushed sensibility, GEORGIA reveals a dignity and power in daily domestic life and a sacredness of the human connection that lies there. Showing a calm survival and a getting-on-with-it, this forthright portrayal of individuals does not bend to stereotypes, irony, or easy morals. Nature and weather are a strong depiction of place in Georgia and connect these families who do not know each other, living in the far corners of the state: the soil and fields, the hills and trees, the rain. GEORGIA is the second installment in a video trilogy documenting the everyday lives of teenagers and their families in the state.
